Almshouses 

An Almshouse is residential, one-bedroomed and two-bedroomed accommodation which belongs to our charity and is provided exclusively to meet our charity's purposes. 

Beverley Housing Charity currently has over 150 properties, providing homes for over 250 residents. Relieving financial hardship and enabling and aiding our residents to live not exist in retirement. In our Almshouses, you have a licence to live with us once, you will pay a maintenance not rental charge. This monthly payment enables us to provide an outstanding service and quality of life for our beneficiaries. Living in an Almshouse also means, you are part of a community. 

We have a range of accommodation; single houses, communal living flats and new build sites. Our vision is to work with residents to create a mobility pathway which means we wish to provide our beneficiaries with the right accommodation, through each stage of retirement whilst being able to live independently. 

When redeveloping our existing Almshouses and building new ones our residents' views and voices are vital in the design stage.

A range of our properties are already adapted to help you live more safely, remain active and stay connected to our services as well as carers, friends and family.

Our Criteria:

• You must be of state retirement age 
• Not own your own property or land 
• Have lived in Beverley or Woodmansey, Molescroft or Tickton for at least 10 years at some point in your life
• Be in financial need
• Evidence will be requested upon full application

Standard Rental Properties 

We recognise that not everyone meets the requirements to benefit from one of our Almshouses but may still wish to benefit from quality rented property in Beverley and surrounding areas. Because of this growing need, the Trustees of Beverley Housing Charity utilise its financial strength and local knowledge to invest in additional homes in Beverley. The return on investment in our rented portfolio enhances our ability to continue to provide our high-quality living across our Almshouse estate.
